Tui-from-the-New-Zealand

A series celebrating New Zealand native bird species.

Whether you live in New Zealand or whether you’re just visiting the country, you can’t miss the omnipresence of birds. New Zealand is a place where birds still fly quite freely and relatively fearlessly of a human. This enables us to observe and admire many species, sometimes right from your garden, even in cities. My little son having a passion for birds, we spend many hours observing them. And, we’ve discovered many interesting species less popular than the Tūī and Fantail. That’s how I’ve become more and more fascinated with the singularity of their shape and size, their song and their feathering.

Thus, it came naturally to me to work on an illustrated series about those birds, trying to highlight their novelty and multitude because there are so much species to acknowledge. The result of this project is available on prints of different formats, from posters to postcards and a collection of accessories.
